What Is Peer Support

UNIQUE TO PEER SUPPORT

Peer Support is best as part of a larger treatment plan, including licensed and medical professionals.  This often includes Doctors, Case Managers, Counselors, Therapists, Social Workers, Court Officers &/or many others.  Unique qualifications to Peer Supporters and aspects of Peer Support include:

  • Authentic Hope (Peer Supporters have been in similar situations.  Working with someone that has overcome this shows, face to face, that it can be done.)

  • Early Bonding with Self-Disclosure (It can make it easier to talk to someone that has been there before, and HRN Peer Supporters can share their experiences to set you at ease.)

  • Most Flexible Support (Peer Supporters can go where needed in the field--to your house, to the store, along with you to an appointment and much more.  HRN Peer Supporters have smaller case loads than most any other provider, which allows even more flexibility.)
